What is the meaning of the term substance in law - and how was it possible for this scientific term to occupy such a prominent role in the most diverse legal provisions of so many different jurisdictions?
Stefanie Merenyi pursued these and other questions in her dissertation about The Concept of Substance in Law (so far only in German: Der Stoffbegriff im Recht) and thus presented an interdisciplinary investigation at the interface not only of several fields of law, but also of the humanities and natural sciences.
Today, this work was honoured with the Frankfurt Baker McKenzie Award as one of the two best dissertations on business law completed in 2018 at the Law Faculty of the Goethe University Frankfurt/Main.
